SENATE ABOLITION BILL
AMENDMENT DEFEATED M.OA’E BY MR. DE A r ALERA (United Press Association —Bv Electric Telegraph Copyright.) LONDON, May 2. Mr AV. T. Cosgravc in the Free iState Dail moved an amendment to the Senate Abolition Bill, making a tlircefifiths majority vote in the Dail necessary to tlhe removal of any member of the judiciary. Dr. O’Higgins pointed out that, failing such precaution, -the wobbling will of one man would rule throughout the country and his vindiettiveness would decide everyone’s destiny.
Mr Fitzgerald declared that the Bill if enacted would give Mr do Valera more power than‘the Tsar or any European Government and o-oviatc the necessity of hi's ever again facing the electors.
,Mr dc Valera applied for a closure. The amendment was defeated by 5S votes to 42.
