MAN INJURED FATALLY
HIT BY LORRY IN. STREET
VISITOR. Toi AUCKLAND (By Telegraph— Tress Association.) AUCKLAND, May 3. Fatal head injuries were received by Mr A. Ri. Ponder, a well-known, commercial traveller and an elderly widower, of Rugby Street, Christchurch, this afternoon when he was struck by a motor truck near a safety zone at the corner of Queen Street and Victoria Street east. The vehicle, owned by Turners and Growers Limited,, was proceeding up Queen Street. Mr Ponder was knocked down, striking his head on the kerb of the safety zone. He was unconscious and was taken to 'hospital m an, ambulance. He died at 7 p.m.
