REDUCTION OF CONTRIBUTIONS PROSPECT IN BRITAIN (British Oflicial Wireless.) RUGBY, May I. Speaking in the House of Commons, Mr Neville iChambcrlain, .Chancellor of the Exchequer, said that with unemployment moving doWnwards as at the present there was every prospect that me unemployment insurance fund was rroiii'*- to save -a suostantial surplus alter 5 paying the debt charge and after the restoration of economy cuts. Under the provisions of the Unemployment Bill the disposal of that surplus w-as not in the hands of the Government but of the statutory committee. it was witnin the power ot the committee to recommend, if it thought fit, that there should be a reduction nr the contribution. Lt seemed to him pretty clear that there would be a surplus, which would allow their making some recommendation of the Kind.
