AUDACIOUS BURGLARY
COMPANY’S SAFE REMOVED. THIEVES TAKE BIG RISKS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 3. An audacious burglary was carried out last night in a laundry company’s premises in Sussex Street. The burglars levered a sliding door off its rails to gain entrance and then carried a small safe from the office and down a flight of six steps into the factory. They could have been seen by any passerby through a. glass window. They removed the safe 160 feet across the factory floor, using a truck for the purpose, and then canned it into- the electric fuse room, which lias a concrete floor. _ There they burst it open with explosives, removed tbe money it contained and departed through a back door. While in the office they ransacked every drawer and strewed the contents on the floor! Tlie safe contained only petty cash, about £5 in value in all.
