OBITUARY
LATE MR A. G. BRETT. The death occurred at Wellington recently of Mr A. G. Brett, aged / 6 years, “"a former Town Clerk of Hawera. The late Mr Brett was also in earlier years secretary of several local organisations, including the Egmont Racing Club, Hawera Caledonian Society and the Normanhy Horticultural Society. He was a son of Colonel W. G. Brett, Bantry, County Cork, Ireland. As a young man he went to Australia and shortly after came to New Zealand, taking up his residence at Normanby, where his brother, the late Captain Frank Brett, of “Gore’s
Grove,” lived. From 1899 to 1903 he was- Town Clerk of .Hawera. The late Mr Brett was twice married, liis first wife-, who died many years ago-, being a daughter of Mr Dan McGregor, an old South Taranaki resident. There weer two daughters of the marriage, Mrs R. Douglas (deceased) and Miss Vera Brett, Wellington. His second wife was Miss Kate Templer, then of Hawera, who survives him, together with their two daughters, Mm Trevor Raynor, Fitzroy, and Miss Betty Brett, Wellington. Mirson Brett, fin only son, was killed in the Great War.
