RECIPROCITY IN TARIFFS
PROPOSALS OF AMERICA MEASURE APPROVED BY SENATE. POWERS OF THE PRESIDENT. NEGOTIATION WITH NATIONS. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) Received 11.30 a.m. to-day. WASHINGTON, May 2. The United States Senate Finance Committee to-dav approved the Reciprocal Tariff Bill with an amendment providing for the hearing of representatives of affected industries before any tariff reductions are made effective. The measure, which empowers the President to negotiate trade agreements with other nations i:n an effort to Restore prosperity, has already been passed by the House of Representatives.
