RESCUE FROM GAS FUMES
YOUNG WOMAN UNCONSCIOUS. DISCOVERY BY VISITORS. . (Bv Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 2. . Shortly after 9 o’clock to-night two young women hired a taxi to go to a house in College Street. On their arrival there one of them went inside, only to rush out a few minutes later. The house was full of gas and a girl had been gassed in one of the rooms. The driver sent the two women for the police and he himself entered the house, where he found the young woman lying on the floor in the kitchen with her head in the gas oven. Dragging the unconscious woman outside he attempted artificial respiration, and after 20 minutes she showed slight signs of consciousness. An ambulance was sent for and the girl was admitted to hospital. It is understood her life is not in danger. She is believed to be a resident of Motueka.
