EGMONT WINTER RACES TO-DAY’S WORK ON TRACKS COURSE IN GOOD ORDER) ((By ‘ ‘Limited. ’’.) This morning training operations on the Hawera racecourse again attracted a crowd of interested spectators. Practically all the' visiting (horses, outside the New Plymouth and Stratford teams have arrived and the paddock presented an animated scene. The tracks remain in perfect order and every indication is for fine weather conditions. The early workers, were Round Table, Royal Peak, Oullus, Grumpy and Chopin, who were given routine exercise work. Chopin, who was galloped on at Pahiatua, showed little signs of the disability and should be capable erf running a good race to-morrow. Mr Cameron’s steeplechaser, Bon Aryan, who fell on Monday, sustaining abrasions, worked over a round, showing little inconvenience, but the Hawera jumper, Gopey, puffed his injured leg and the chances of hie starting look remote. Qni the plough track Carfex (Cole) again finished in front of Diagano (Vaughan) over half a mile covered in 51 sec. The hurdler Pa-hui sprinted three furlongs in 39seo. R.uri (Tucker) did solid pace work. Dir the outside of the. course proper Oriel (Duncan), San dlark (Feasey) and Ingenuity (Shield) galloped five furlongs ,in 1.5 4-5. Oriel finished a ne<k im front of Sandlark, who just shaded Ingenuity. After jumping a oonple of hurdles Esteem (Thompson) and True Shaft (Nichol) galloped a mile in 1.47, both shaping well. St. Clara worked nicely at threequarter pace. - Colossal (Duncan) and Onewhetu (Shield) sprinted three furlongs in 38 sec, Onewhetu shading his opponent. On the plough Bugle Call (McLaughJan) and Princess Star covered half a mile in ,53sec. Princess Star opened up a break, running her first two furlongs in 25 l-ssec and finishing well in front in 53sec. On the same track Gibraltar (Feasey) was going better than Chief Line (Shield) and Stanchion (Duncan) at the - end of seven furlongs in 1.35*. Tres Sec sprinted half a mile in 49 - 3-sseo. The Tiger (Cochrane) dashed over a couple of furlongs in 24-jsee. The steeplechaser Riotous (Thompson) cleared three of the- big fences in good style and afterwards, in company with Brown Abbey '(Sullivan) galloped a mile on the outside in 1.55. Bean Star (Brough) covered five furlongs in 1.10 2-5 ini a working gallop, Manuiri worked seven furlongs in • 1.41*. Solomon was given half pace exercise. Snowball sprinted three furlongs on the trial grass in SVsec. On the plough Alloy, after pacing a round, was joined by British Columbia (Tremain) at the half mile, the pair coming home in 52*seo with British Columbia going comfortably in front. Arauline (Atkins) went over four furlongs in/ 50sec. Bon Aryan strode over a mile freely in 1.54. Hounslow and Royal Limond were given pace exercise.
