Tho Hollywood Court ordered the film actress Mary A,stor to pay her parents £2O a month, pending the completion o>f a suit for support. Maiv Aston* contended that .she had contributed .support, but her parents, insisted on being maintained at £40,000. She became annoyed when they mortgaged the house for £3OO to construct a swimming pool. Mary Astor was ordered, under a Superior Court writ, to explain why .she did mot .support her parents, Mr and Mrs Otto Laugh,anke. The father declared that he and his wife were in financial distress, alnd were about to lose their home. He said that 'he fostered his daughter’s career. Miss Astor dolared herself to be “heart-broken” over the charge. She insisted that she had adequately provided for them, but her father\s investments and extravagant living had swept away £BO,OOO.
