JUDGES AT WELLINGTON ENTRY IN SONG SECTION TeJpgTapb- Association.) WELLINGTON, April 12. The executive icommitltee of the Wellington. Competitions Society appointed the following judges for the next eompeftiitioiiis: Vocal, Mr Ken noth North (Sydney); elocution, Mr Hewlett Ross (Melbourne) ; assistant adjudicator in elocution, Mr Barton Ganger (Wellington); .fancy dancing. Miss Jean Horne (Auckland); national daeing, Mr Braid (Hawera); instrumental music, Mr Vernon Griffiths (Dunedin). Acting on the advice of the GovernorGenerail, who at the last, festival pointed out that a young country bad at some time to make a. start in higher cultural art and that there was often latent talent in the community which only needed some encouragement to make itself manifest, the .society recently offered a prize of £25 and a. second prize of £5 for the 'best, original song with accompaniment. Entries have closed, and the secretary of the society states that 104 songs have (been received. They come from almost every place in New Zealand from Whangarei to Invercargill. The songs have been 'forwarded to the. adjudicator, and his report will be available in time for the forthcoming festival.
