VICTORY TO HEROIC PRINCE. PETER JACK.SON RUNS SECOND ARACHNB WINS ASCOTVALE (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph Dr.pyrigbli.) MELBOURNE, March 11. The weather was warm, with a good attendance for the third! day of the Victoria Rlacing Ulnb’s autumn meeting. B-obbages led over the last- two miles of the Autumn Hiurdle and had a comfortable win. Ho bad his early racing in Tasmania, but is now owned and trained by W. Burke. Arachne had a, comfortable win in the Ascotvale Stakes. She cost 75 guineas as a yearling and has now three wins and a second in four starts. She is one of the best fillies of recent years and her meeting with Sir John at Randwick will be awaited with interest. . Closing Time led always m the C. M. Lloyd Stakes and won comfortably. His owner-trainer J- T. Jamieson bad a previous success with Ammon Ra m this race. The conditions of the race favoured the winner, who received a stone from Kuvera, who is the same age, on account of not having won a weight-for-age race of the value oi £SOO.

Heroic Prince was fourth at the last mile post and finished brilliantly in the Australian Cup. Ellis gave Peter Jackson every chance but was beaten by a better horse. Gippsland finished well and beat the pacemaker Distant for place honours. Heroic Prince was formerly trained by J. Holt for Mr C. B. Kellow and cost his present owner-trainer H. Leek 900 guineas about 12 months ago. Leek had a second in the cup with Mira Donna two years ago.
