BARCELONA, March 11.. A general strike throughout Spain has been announced for midnight. The Government states it is illegal and is taking special precautions to maintain gas, water, light and transport services.
At Madrid the Catholic newspaper “Aicacion Popular” lias instructed the young civil defence volunteers to protect the sale, of newspapers on Tuesday, when street- fighting is anticipated. The Government threatens to arrest the entire executive of the Master Builders’ Association, ihereby complicating the situation of the builders’ strike.
