SERVICE CHAMPIONSHIP

WANGANUI MAN WINS. .By Telegraph —Press Association.) TRENTHAM, March 10. The service championship was deeid ed at the annual meeting of thei National Rifle Association this mdrnSng, the winner being E. Parley (Wanganui) with 191. R. L. Jordan (Westport) was second with 184 and A. G. Devore (Akarana) third with the same score. Jordan and Devore had to fire oft to decide second and third places. Twenty-tseven teams competed' m the champion teams match, which was open to teams of four men who had to fire seven rounds at 300, 500 and 600 yards. First place was filled by Wanganui No. 1 with an aggregate score of 395. The team consisted of P. J. Soler, E. Parley, J. Patterson and E. S. King. They receive £l2, the district challenge shield and miniature silver cuds for each member of the earn. The Greytown team was second with 393.

The Colonial Ammunition Company s Cup for long range shooting as well as the Rifle Club champion team=> match for the highest aggregate score in all belt- matches except the final ten shoots were both won by the Petone team No. 1. The Auckland match which required ten rounds at 800 and 900 yards, was won by H. V. Croxon (Karori) with 97. A. R. Symons l (Okawa) was second with 96 and R. C. Barkle (Petone) third with 9d. The B grade winner was K. Inwood (Nelson) with 96. Other results are: Bislev aggregate, for highest scores in the Taranaki, Auckland and 'Witcombe and Caldwell matches.—£s, Croxon 188: £4, E. T. Maldane (Waipdkuraul 184; £2 10s each;, R. O. Barkle (Petone) 184 and R. H. Nicholl (Pet one) 184 : £2. H. R. Hunt (Suburbs') 183. Nino collected £1 each, two fifteen shillings and nine ten shillings. Australian aggregate, for highest scores in the Canterbury, Wellington and Auckland matches. —£7, Croxton 239 : £6 R. H.
