GUILTY ON MURDER CHARGE

At the second trial of Dr. Alice Wynekoop, _ following ,n mis-trial on January 22 on account of her illhealth, she was found guilty of the murder of her daughter-in-law. She whs sentenced to 25 years’ imprisonment. Dr. Wynekoop was a social leader at Chicago, and a sensation followed the finding of the naked body of her daughter-in-law on an operating table at their mansion. Dr. Alice Wynekoop . confessed to the Chicago police that she fired a bullet at the heart of her da ughter-in-law, Rheta, while Ilheta lay unconscious. Breaking down after nearly three days’ exhausting examination, the aged physician stated that she administered chloroform to Rheta while examining her for a pelvic pain of which tho girl complained. The case took an extraordinary turn later when Earle Wynekoop completely repudiated his mother’s confess.ion and insisted that he alone committed the murder. He was arrested and charged with murder, but the police were unable to substantiate his confession, and he was later released.
