TRADES UNIONS DISPLACED FEDERATION IN 5 BRANCHES. SOCIALIST ATTACK ON JEWS. DENIAL OF PRISON CRUELTY. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright-). VIENNA, March. 7. In accordance with the. Government decree all trade unions are now leplacied bv an' organisation called the Workers’ Federation, controlled by Herr Stunner, Heimwehr M mister for Social Welfare, who will appoint a president and an executive. The fed - eration is subdivided into five branches —industrv. commerce, trade, banking, and professional workers. Agreements concluded by the federation will bind all workers in the trades concerned. The property and funds of the dissolved, unions will be vested in the federation, from which persons convicted of the slightest political offences will be excluded.

Christian Socialist organs demand the annulment of the naturalisation of all Jews' wlio' entered the' country after the war from former portions of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. These Jews, numbering tens of thousands. were automatically made citizens by the Social Democrat Administration. The papers urge the replacement of Jewish by Christian and German hosnital doctors. A London cable states that the “News-Chronicle” has printed the Austrian Government’s categorical denial of a statement on March 4 “with reference to torturing political prisoners.” The Government states that there are no underground cells or‘brutalities and the Heimwehr Pave nothing to do with arrests or the custody of prisoners.
