“THEIR NIGHT OUT.” “Their Night Out,” which will be| presented at the Hawera Opera House j to-night and to-morrow, is the first starring; vehicle for Claude Hulbert, and tells the story of a young man who is mistaken for a famous crook. Hulbert appears as “something in the City’’ against a background of a modern business office; accompanying a young ladv from Aberdeen to a night club which is raided; entangled with a gang of crooks who imagino him to be a master-mind; struggling to pacify a fiery vamp and keep her presence hidden from his mother-in-law, and as a devoted husband in romantic scenes with his beautiful young wife. The cast also includes Amy Veness, Juiy Kelly, Binnie Barnes, and the three popular 8.1. P. comedians—Gus McNaughton. Hal Gordon, and Jimmy Go-dileii. Renee Houston, the variety star, makes an auspicious- debut m “Their Night Out”—her first fulllength talkie—-as the young lady from Aberdeen. Seats may be reserved at Miss Blake’s. “42ND STREET.” “42-nd Street,” a dramatic spectacle of the American theatre, -showing on Saturday at the Opera House for a season of two nights and matinees daily, carries a cast of eleven stars, besides featured actors of note, a picked chorus of 150 beautiful girls and hundreds of extras. The cast is headed bv Warner Baxter, the star of “Six Hours to Live,” “Cisco Kid,” “Daddy Lon<r Legs,,” and many other hits, and Bebe Daniels, of “Rio Rita, and “Dixiana” fame. Ruby Keeler, wife of A 1 Jolson, and the Zeigfe-ld star of “Show Girl,” makes her picture bow as the ingenue of “42nd Street. ’ George Brent, Una Market, Guy Kibbee, Neel Sparks, Dick Powell, Ginger .Rogers and Alien Jenkins', all well known both on stage and screen, complete the star cast. A complete Broadway musical comedy is presented, to an -accompaniment of love, laughter, melody and dancing feet. A feature of the production is the unusual number of catchy songs, such as “Shuffle 'Off to Buffalo,” “You’re Getting to be a Habit With Me,” “I’m' Young and Healthy,’’and “42nd Street.” More brilliant dancing has never been seen than is displayed throughout the production, and in this Ruby Keeler stands out prominently. “CAVALCADE.” Noel Coward’s epic of the Empire, 1 ‘Cavalcade, ’ ’ will commence at the Opera House on Tuesday for foui nights and four matinee sessions. “Cavalcade,” which enjoyed the distinction of a Royal Command performance before t-heir Majesties- the Ring and Queen, has broken all records everywhere, both in Britain and the Dominions, and, significantly enough, elsewhere. The story of “Cavalcade, is the story of the Marryot family, Jane and Robert, their two sons, Jo© and their servant, Ellen Bridges, and their daughter, Fanny. While it is etched on a background of historical events of the last 33 years, the storv itself is the principal feature of “Cavalcade.” The family—its joys, loves, and tragedies—is always uppermost-. Its theme is universal The featured roles are played with brilliant artistry by Diana Wynvard and Clive Brook, with Ursula Jeans. Herbert Mundin, Una O’Connor, Frank Lawton, Irene Browne, Merle Tottenham. 'The supporting cast number 3500. Historic England, from the reign of Queen Victoria to the present day, sweeps magnificently and ivamatically across the screen.
