NAVAL BASE! COMMAND
CHANGE IN TRANSFER PLAN,
PRESENT OFFICER TO REMAIN

Orders "were received to-day for Commander E. L, Berthon to remain in his present appointment as Officer in Charge of the Devonport Naval Base pending further instructions. Commander Berthon intended sailing by the Mdnowai next Thursday. He has been the guest of honour at several farewell functions recently and yesterday welcomed Commander B. C. B. Brooke, who arrived” with bis wife and family by the Remnera. to succeed him. Under the latest orders Commander Bi-obke is to be retained at the base in addition td Commander Berthon.

Captain Hughes Watson, Clomniojdore commanding tl;a New Zealand station, has been proinoteu to'the position of Rear-Admiral. The Admiralty announces that at the request tif the New Zealand Government RearAdmiral Watson is to complete- his rppoihtment before retiring.
