EGMONT JUBILEE SHOW

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. APPOINTMENT OF JUDGES. Alembers of the general committee of the Bgmonfc A. and P. Washer, J. Forbes, J. Pettigrew, Jas. Best. F. Ogle, W. H. Reynolds, B. C. Lysaght. B. O. Gibson, W. V. Parker and R. AfcCay (secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs O. G. Trotter, H. J. Crocker, J. W. Alexander, A. Appleyard, B. C. Bennett, J. E. Campbell, A. L. Bremer, H. E. Johnson and W. Pollock.

Cheltenham; milking Shorthorns, Mr J. Hearsey, Longburn; dairy section, Mr A. Montgomerie, Kauwhata, Palmerston North; grades and crossbreds, Ma* W. OR..- Rutler, Ha>wera: Clydesdales and spring carters, Mr 11. D. Knight, Longburn; light horses, Mr H. A. Russell, Hastings; ponies, Mr H. R. Denize, Hawera; sheep, purebred, Mr Q. Donald, Featherston; fat sheep, Mr ~F. Besley, Whenuakura; pigs, Mr J. A. Russell. Gillespie’s Lane, Palmerston North; baconers and poi’kers, Mr M. Barra - clough, Hawera; cooking, Mrs E. O’Meara, Wanganui and Miss H. ITopkinsonp Waverley; fancy work, Mrs C. E Williams, New Plymouth; art section, Mr L. S'. Poison, Hawera ; eggs, Mr D. Stewart, Normanby. : ' Lady stewards were appointed as follow : Cooking, Misses M. Ballantyne, D. Swadling, E. Washer, W. Oldfield, E. Mortimer and H, Betts; section IT, Miss B. Young; section IH. Mrs Evans, Misses J Exley, V. Death and J. W. Easton; art, Miss. G. Death. The Meat Board advised details of a district competition in export lambs, adding that the various A. and P. societies would control the competition, attending to the collection, tagging, cataloguing, killing and c.o.t. entries. ' Each pen would consist of three export lambs . and farmers were limited to two entries. The competition was confined to lambs for export, the weight not to be 'more' than 401 b. A held day should be arranged so that exhibitors might see the stock at the freezing works. The prizes would be £ls, £lO and £5, for best individual lots of lambs shipped from (a) North Island and (b) South Island.. Mr W. J. Arundeil, of New Plymouth, wrote regretting that he would be unable to. be present at the jubilee show.

Mr W. Robertson wrote thanking the committee for the honour confer red on him in making him a- life member. He said he had the pleasure of being present at the first show and was a member of the association from 1877 and exhibited all classes of stock for a period of twenty years. • The Hawera Borough Council gave permission to drive stock by way of the Camberwell Road on the occasion of the jubilee show. The secretary of the Hawera Retailers’ Association advised that a recommendation was passed urging that retailers should be asked to close their premises on Friday, November 10. The Retailers’ Association voted £5 towards the funds of the A. and P. Association.

Advice was received from the South Taranaki Automobile Association that the service officer would take charge of the cars during the jubilee show.

It was resolved to institute a canvass for supplies for the luncheon booth at the show. The following donations were made at the meeting: Mr. W. McL’Dowie, lamb and pigs; Mr. G. AV. Williams, lamb; Mr. J. J. Pease, bullock; Mr. J. Forbes, sheep; Mr. F. Ogle, pigs; Mr. B. C. Gibson, potatoes; ' Messrs T. H. Walker and Sons, dressed pig; Mr. James Best, lamb; Mr. J. Pettigrew, bacon and eggs; Mr. F. Hoskin, pigs. J}r. 'l'. Fitzgerald and Mr. AV. D. Gulliver (Manaia) were elected new members.
