PICTON HOTEL FIRE

OLD' BUILDING DESTROYED. ADJOINING PREMISES RAZED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) BLENHEIM, June 9. Eire at Picton at 3 a.m. completely destroyed the Post Office Hotel, an old wooden building of about 20 rooms erected 40 years ago. The flames also spread, to O-xley’s Hotel adjoining, wiping out a wooden portion comprising a kitchen, dining-room and other offices.

. The heat was so great that Clemen’s Kiosk and J. L. Jones bookseller’s premises on the opposite side of the street were scorched and windows broken. The fire in the. Post Office Hotel had a good hold when discovered, and the proprietress, Mi's.
