RAILWAY FINANCES
INCREASE IN REVENUE. PROGRESS' IN 44 WEEKS. (By Telegrapn—Press Association). WELLINGTON, Feb. 27. “Daring the four weeks ended February 4 the railways have recorded a gain of £16,094 in net revenue compared with the corresponding period of last year,” said Air H. H. Sterling, Chairman of the Railways Board to-day. “This brings us to the end of 44 weeks of the financial year with a. total increase of £52,700 in the net revenue. Compared with the ,corresponding term of the last financial year the total revenue shows an increase of £6527, while working expense's have been reduced by £9567. For the year to date the total revenue has been £4,925,510 and the working expenses £4,344,668, giving a net revenue of £583.842.”
