THE C.R.P. PICNIC
TRIP TO INGLEWOOD PARK. The members of the staff of the C.R.P. Ltd. held their picnic on Sunday at Everett Park. Inglewood. The staff of the main shop and also the Hawera branches and Manaia branch congregated at the Hawera main shop at 8.30 a.m. and a joyful crowd set out (shortly afterwards, the private cars of the directors and also private cars owned by members of the staff as well as the delivery vans of the firm being all commandeered. On the way to Inglewood the party was joined by the staff and the manager and his wife of the Eltham branch, and the happy crowd arrived at their destination about 10.30.
A comprehensive list of sports had already 'been drawn up, including races for married members' of the staff and also for their wives. A scries of tug-of-war contests took place between teams drawn from the branch shops and teams drawn from the main shop, in each of which the branch shop teams' proved victorious. In cricket matches the branch shops, once more carried off the “ashes.” Whilst the greater majority of the picnickers enjoyed swimming in the river, the few who did not had a choice of other avenues of enjoyment, the oaves being visited amongst other beauty, spots. A marquee was' erected! for the serving of refreshments. The picnic was confined entirely to the members of the staff and their wives and children, the total number participating being 52, only a few members' absent being upon their annual vacation. A very happy day was spent, and the hope was freelv expressed that this would he the forerunner of an annual event. The company left Everett Park for home about G p.m.
