DISARMAMENT PARLEY
POSSIBILITY OF DELAY DOMESTIC AFFAIRS OF POWERS FRENCH AND GERMAN CABINETS STEPS TO OFFSET HOLD-UP. (British Official Wireless.) Received 12.10 p.m to-day. RUGBY, Jan. 30. The Bureau of the World Disarmament Conference met at Geneva to prepare for a meeting of the general' commission on Tuesday. Press messages suggest that provisions are being made to obviate delay resulting from the week-end political crises in France and Germany. M. Daladier, the Radical Socialist who has been entrusted by President Lebrun with the task of forming a new French Government liopps, according to a Paris telegram, to complete die Cabinet late to-night. If, owing to the absence of the French delegate, the discussion of the French plan cannot be commenced as arranged at Thursday’s meeting the commission will consider minor affairs pending Ins arrival.
The programme of work put forward by Britain will facilitate the progress of the conference and speed up the practical decisions which will come before the commission at an early date and it is hoped the proposals, which are not a new or rival “plan” but aim only at co-ordinating tlie results of many months of discussions and accelerating agreements, will secure general support.
