BOY BATHER DROWNED
JUMP INTO RIVER POOL. UNAW ARE ""of DEPTH. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Jan. 30. An eight-year-old boy named John Henry Garritt who could not swim lost his life when bathing, in a pool at Oakley Creek, Avondale, shortly after midday to-day. The boy was a son of Mr J. H. Oarritt, Mount Albert.
He went to the pool with another boy named Frank Shridsky. Garritt jumped into the water from a bank, apparently not realising the depth of the water. He was soon in difficulties and after coming to the surface and sinking three times he disappeared. The boy .Shrdisky ran for help arid the body was recovered in about five feet of water. Artificial respiration was attempted, but was without avail.
