BENNETT AND SUTTON CUP BOUND. J. VINTEX’S TOP SCORE. Members of the Hawera Defence Rifle Club contested the first round of the Bennett and Sutton Cup competition at the Whareroa range on Saturday. ’Ten shots were fired at both 500 and (100 yards. Weather conditions were extremely unfavourable, a tricky mirage resulting from the intense heat making accurate judgment difficult. A fish-tail wind of unusual strength contributed to the cause of the low scores. Rifleman J. Vint.en was "top scorer off the rifle with 87, with Pres. Robertson and Rifleman Shepard next.
