EGMONT RACES

OPENING DAY TO=MORROW FORM OF THE CANDIDATES REVIEW BY “LIMITED” Although the fields for the Egmont Racing Club’s meeting to-morrow will be smaller than usual, good oompetij lion can be confidently expected and j a fin© day’s isport anticipated. The .racecourse, when inspected this morning, was in perfect order for galloping and provided the weather remains fine a splendid racing track is assured. OH AAV E HURDLES. Of £7O. One mile and a-half. Teiiacre 10 10 Calamine 9 1 Kimbo 9 7 Day Lass 9 0 Marjoram 9 3 Invictus 9 0 The programme opens with the Ohawe Hurdles, which has not attract'ed a large field. Kiniibo and Inv.iotns | have performed promisingly. The top-' .weight, Tenacre, however, is particularly well handicapped and the public will probably make Tenacre, Kimbo and Invictus the order of favouritism. ' JUVENILE HANDICAP. Of £6O. Five furlongs. Pesolieira 8 2 Wharaurangi 7 5 i Merry Way 8 1 Shillong: 7 2 Welcome Lu 7 13 Lady Bent 7 0 Miss Cavendish' 7 13 Icier 7 0 No Doubt 7 10 Bold Baron 7 0 Royal Dash 7 9 Hunting Lodge 7 0 Prince Reno 7 8 The Juvenile Handicap has filled well and tile betting should take a wide range. Of the three-year-olds Merry Wav looks well placed and Miss Cavendish should see out the* five furlongs strongly enough. Of the two-year-olds that have performed with promise Prince Reno and No Doubt have best credentials. Iceir, Lady Beut and Shil-| long have shown pace on the local track.; Prince Reno, Merry Way and Miss Cavendish will all claim big support. EGMONT CUP. Of £2OO. One mile and a-quarter. Riclifield 8 10 Shrewd 7 3 Fiji 8 10 Aga, Khan 7 2 Habit 8 5 Lady Spy 7 0 Gibraltar 8 3 Monaloil' 7 0 In the Egmont Cup 'Richfield and Fiji have recent form to their credit. Fiji's AVellington Cup performance was a good one and, although lie failed at Ashhurst, he went down to a good form horse in B ramble tor n. Richfield ran good races at Manawatu and .Stratford, 1 but failed at AVellington. Lady Spy, j' Habit and Shrewd are all recent win- ' j ners. Aiga Khan is likely to run in the ; Nolan Handicap and the public selections may be Fiji, Shrewd and Lady 1 SP? ‘ FLYING HANDICAP. ; Of £IOO. Six furlongs. r Lady Quex 9 0 Green Linnet 7 5 Arvada 7 7 Eastertime 7 0^ The Tiger 7 6 Headmaster 7 0 1 In the Flying Handicap Lady Quex . is not unduly treated and she is re-j 1 ported to have been shelving all her J old brilliancy in her track work. Afvada., The Tiger and Green Linnet 1 are all fast over six furlongs and, on his home track, The Tiger may- be preferred to Lady Quex and Arvada. NOLAN HANDICAP. Of £IOO. Eight and a-half furlongs Aga. Khan 9 0 Da.vistorti 8 0 Arikitea 8 3 Glowliglit 7 11 Attentive 8 1 Tentoali 7 A If reserved for the Nolan If a ncli cap, Aga Khan will dominate the betting far this event with Tentcall, who has been working well, a second choice. AYHA REROA HANDICAP. Of £9O. Eight furlongs and a-half. « Habit 9 5 Calamine 8 0 a Tenacre 8 A Eastertime 8 0 rj chief Line 8 2 Lady Spy 8 0 / Lucky Alice 8 2 La Crown 0 0 j In the weights for the AYharevoa 5 Handicap run over eight and a-half fur- j longs only four pounds separate seven ( of the competitors. Here again Tenacre is well in, also Chief Line and p Lucky Alice. The last-named and Chief Line may carry most support. r AVATPAPA HACK. Of £7O. Seven furlongs. n c Cei eal 813 March Alone 7 8-, Ida Merlinr 8 C Queenbeyan 7 0 J Davistoek 8 5 Tenure 7 0 Royal Papa 712 No Humbug 7 0 t The final event, the AVaipapa Hack 1 Handicap, should prove an interesting event with Cereal, Ida Merling, and ® Davistock all well backed. ;
