WOMEN’S INSTITUTE DISPUTE DOMINION DIFFERENCES NEW PRESIDENT SUGGESTED. (By; Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 30. o Tlie Governor-General,. Lord BledisJoe, having accepted a joint invitation from the executives of the Dominion Federation and the Auckland District Federation of Women’s Institutes to act as arbitrator with a view to the settlement of differences which have arisen between the two bodies and to the establishment of central executives for New Zealand which shall enjoy the confidence of all Women’s Institutions throughout the Dominion, a meeting of representatives of both executives was held at Government House, Wellington, on January 6, over which’ Lord Bledisloe jiresided. After a prolonged discussion it was decided at the chairman’s suggestion, with a view to future harmonious cooperation and without any reflection upon the public-spirited activities of those who hitherto had directed the movement in the Dominion, that both Miss Jerome Spencer and Mrs. Irwin should temporarily relinquish their present official positions as chairwomen of the Dominion Federation and as President of the Auckland district or area federation respectively and that some ladj r possessing the confidence of all present at the meeting should be asked to act as President of the reunited Dominion Federation until the next annual general meeting and that in the meantime an attempt be made to formulate a constitution on a democratic basis to which all parties can give their entire adherence.
