CALCUTTA, Jan. 28. At the court martial of' the Indian Singh on a charge of having murdered an officer in December the prisoner declared his protests against being compelled to eat and drink with Mazbhi Sikhs drafted from another regiment whom he legardeu as untouchables, had been unheeded. He therefore decided to kill the officer and then sacrifice himself in the cause of religion which forbade him to feed with a lower caste. .
He said he had served in the Army for seven years and was still loyal. The hearing is unfinished.
