During the week-end a match of five rinks was played at the Opunake' Bowling Club’s green between the Opunake Club and the remainder of the AVest'ern Division clubs. Opunake performed well, winning by a margin of 2, the totals being Western-Division 158, Opunake 160. Olpunake Motors, left Opunake for r,ew Plymo-uth, crowded with happy children their parents and friends to spend a clav at Pukekura Park. It was the occasion of the Anglican Sunday school picnic and a large, number took advantage of the cheap fare to have a pleasant outing.

A very pleasant evening was spent in the Kina Road school room on Tuesday last, when the commg-of-age of Miss Esme Gardiner was celebrated. > The school was packed with settlers and friends and the guest of honour was the recipient of many’- handsome gift*. , r On behalf of those present Mr J. Lind ley congratulated Miss Gardiner and her father responded. AVhen the cake (mounted with 21 candles) had been cut the usual roast with music was honoured. The evening was spent in dancing for /which Air. J. Hooker supplied the music. Items wove also contributed as follow: A r oeal duet, Alosdames R. Bavlis and J. Lindlev; piano solo, Miss Q. Coombes; Irish jig, Miss Tv. Hurley; song. Air. J. Hooker; Highland dances, Aliss A- Ross. . SEA BATHING. Taking advantage of the beautifully 7 fine weather large numbers visited the beach during the week-end. The sea was lukewarm and many enjoyed bathing. SAATAIAIING. On AVednesday 7 evening next the Surf Lifesaving Club’s annual round-liie-lake race for the Hurst Cup 7 s to be held. Good entries have been received..
