FALL IN BASIC WAGE
NEW AUSTRALIAN RATES AVERAGE £3/1/8 IN CITIES SYDNEY HIGHEST AT £3 6s 7d (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright' Received 12.10 p.m. to-day. CANBERRA, Jan. 28. From February 1 the Federal basic at Sydney will be reduced by lid weekly to £3 6s 7d. Other city reductions are as follow : 18d reduction, Melbourne and Perth, to £3 Os 4d and £2 18s Id respectively; iSd reduction, Brisbane and Hobart; to £2 15s 8d and £3 3s 6d; 2s reduction, Adelaide, to £2 15s 4d. Thirty principal towns drop by Is 3d to £3 Is 2d. The average for the six cities is £3 Is Sd weekly.
