McGrath defeats vines. CRAWFORD BEATS ALLISON. (United Press Association —By Eieotric Telegraph Copyright.) MELBOURNE, Jam 27. In the Australian tennis- championships V. McGrath defeated H. E. Vines (U.S.A., 6 —2, 2— G, S—6, 7—5 in the quarter-final of the men’s singles. Vines' netted more than usual, but McGrath returned his lightning-like services perfectly. McGrath’s backhand was the deciding factor. _ , v J. Crawford defeated Allison 1 (U.S.A.) 6 2, 3 —o, 3—(5, 6 —o, fi—3 in a semifinal’ of the men’s singles.
