HAWERA METHODIST CHURCH
QUARTERLY MEETING. HALL AT OH AWE. The quarterly meeting of the Alcthodist Church was -held on Thursday evening, the Rev. E. -'S'. Emmitt presiding over a good attendance. The meeting opened with prayer and a scripture reading. A report was made by 'the chairman in regard to the proposed church hall at Ohawe and it was resolved to forward a letter of thanks to Air and Airs Catran for their generous gift of a section.
A welcome was given, to Mr Teaman, who has consented to act in the position of financial steward. The balance sheet was received and adopted, subject to the addition of a few details. It was decided to hold the harvest festival on March 5 and G, the dates for Mercmerc and Norman by to. be arranged later. It was decided that the annual garden party would be held at Mrs C. A. Bates’ residence, Disraeli Street, on February .8. The arrangements were left in the hands of Mrs T. Hurrell, Messrs S. .T. Bennett and J. Iley. Iteports were received from the Sunday schools in the circuit, showing that numbers were about the same as in the previous quarter. Mesdames 'Hill and Cressey reported that Ohangai was progressing well and had held a very successful concert and prize-giving, Miss D. Swadling presenting the prizes.
Messrs IT. Shaw and Iv. Hall were appointed society stewards, and Mr S. J. Bennett delegate to the. Methodist Conference, with Mrs Rowe as substitute.
It, was resolved to hold the next quarterly meeting on March 20.
