WAREHOUSE PICNIC
GEORGE AND DOUGHTY STAFF. DAY AT MOKOIA BEACH. Tiie second annual picnic of the staff of Messrs George and Doughty in Hawera. was held yesterday at Mojcoia Beach and proved most successful. The members of the staff and their families and friends made a numerous company. Games, swimming, surfing; and races occupied the day, and these were well organised and provided much interest and amusement.
Lunch and afternoon tea were al fresco meals and in the early evening the return journey was made. The results of competitions were: Ladies’ 1.00 yards.—First heat: I. Prince 1, L. Brown 2, I. Hurrell 3. second heat: M. Prince 1, E. Searle 2, G. Islierwood 3. Final: I. Prince 1, T. Hurrell 2, M. Prince 3. G. and D. men’s 100 yards.—R. Rees 1, L. Lewis 2, S’. McKinnon 3. Wheelbarrow race.—Miss Leggett and L. Toy 1, Miss Hurrell and G. Brown 2, Miss I. Prince and L. Lewis 3.
Relay race. —Junior A (L. Lewis, Miss T. Prince, S .Watson, Miss M. Leggett) 1, Junior B (L. Wise, Miss J. England, L. Toy, Miss G. Tslnjrwood) 2. Departmental relay race.—G. Gaybird, L. Lewis, Mrs V. Parker and Miss I. Prince 1. A. Jackson. 0. McKinnon Misses Hurrell and M. Prince 2.
