LEVEL CROSSING SMASH
WOMEN MOTORISTS INVOLVED. ONE SUFFERS BROKEN ANKLE. (By Telegraph— I-ress Association.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 25. A sedan ear collided with the Napier express and overturned at the lOhau crossing this afternoon, imprisoning the occupants, two women and two children. The driver of the car was Mrs Wallace Dath and the others in ,the party were her two children and Mrs O’Rourke. Mrs O’Rourke had her left ankle fractured and others received cuts and abrasions and are also suffering from shock. The car was travelling toward Levin and was on the crossing just south of the Ohau station when it was struck by the downward Napier express and was extensively damaged. The accident occurred at 2.15 p.m. The driver of the train immediately stopped and the passengers descended. After righting the overturned motor-car they picked up the occupants. After a delay of about 10 minutes the . motorists. were put aboard the train and taken to Otaki. They were later conveyed to a private hospital. , ..V"-. A'
