TOWN BOARD FUNDS
ALLEGED THEFT AT KAPONGA. REMAND UNTIL NEXT TUESDAY. At tihe Eltham Court yesterday afternoon', before Mr H. G. Carman, J.P., a resident of Kaponga was charged with the theft of monies amounting in all to £9O from the Ka.ponga Town Boa'rd. The 'charges related back over a period, commencing in 1931. On the application of Mr Hessel, who appeared for accused, an order for tho suppression of accused’s' name was made.
Accused was remanded to appear at the Eltham 'Court on January 31, and was admitted to bail in his own security of £IOO and two sureties of £SO each.
The arrest was made by Detective A. B. Meiklejohn, followings an auditor’s examination of the Town Board’s books.
