EXAMINATION OF BANKRUPT

A public examination of the bankruptcy of Robert Standish Sievier showed that the liabilities amount to £4689 and the assets to £55. Sievier admitted four previous failures from which lie had been discharged. He haci been < *in the hands of moneylenders since 1929. He attributed his insolvency to the lack of remunerative employment and the depreciation of the value of bloodstock.

At the first meeting of creditors in November into, the atfairs _of Sievier, who was described as of Randolph Crescent, Maida Vale, journalist,- Mr F. V ivy an. Official Receiver, reported that a previous bankruptcy was recorded against the debtor. The- liabilities then amounted to £100,030 and no' 'dividend was paid. Sievier had stated that since 1929 his only occupation had been that of editor of the ‘‘Winning Post” for eight months at a salary of £2OOO a year. In 1929 and 1930 he was without income and lived upon gifts from friends. In 1931 and 1932 his expenditure was at the rate of £ISOO a year. Debtor owed £3530 at the time and had no assets of anv description. Mr. Thomas Griffiths, Sievier’s counsel. submitted a proposal for payment of the main debts in. full within twelve months. The Official Receiver closed the meeting, remarking that in his experience that was a proposal which the Court could not accept. He added that he would apply in due course for an order of adjudication in bankruptcy.
