LEAVING THE COALITION
MEMBER FOR EDEN. PRIME MINISTER’S COMMENT. (By TeWtnph—Cress Association.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 25. Replying ; to a question this afternoon regarding the position of Mr A. J. Stallworthy (Coalition 1 member for Eden), who openly declared himself as a supporter of (Mr Downie Stewart and a definite opponent of the Government on the exchange, issue, the Rt. ■Hon. iG. W. Forbes said Mr Stallworthy had been absenting himself from the caucus for a long time, and probably could be regarded as having definitely severed his connection with the Coalition.
“He could probably be quite rightly regarded as among those who wish to see Mr Coates'and myself out,’’ said the Prime Minister.
