(From Our Own Correspondent.) “ALL BRITISH FAIR.” A very pleasant evening was spent in the Anglican liqll on Wednesday at a social m aid of the green candidate (Mr. A. Bay I is) in the King Carnival. Music was supplied by Mi - . J. Hooker, who also acted as M.-C. A dainty sup per was served by the candidate’s ladies’ committee. Dancing oompeti tions were won as follow : Monte Carlo, Miss G. There was a good attendance at tin Opua Road schoolroom on Tuesday night for the euchre and dance soeia. in aid of the blue candidate (Mr. H. Urblian). Euchre prizes were won b\ Airs. Corkin and Airs. Sheehan. A waltzing competition was won by Air. and Airs. C. Haskell, and a Monte Carlo by Air. Urbhan and Aliss Callander. Air. P. Schieler supplied the music and Air. C. Haskell acted as M.G. Supper was served by the ladies. CROQUET. On Wednesday members of the Opunake Croquet Club spent a most enjoyable afternoon at their lawn. In a competition for the silver buttons Aiesdames Jenkin and Ritchie defeated Mesdames G. Feaver and Gunson, 26—29. In a game for the Moron stars Alesdames Sinclair and Johnston defeated Mesdames Dalrvmple and Aforris. 26—17. ATHLETICS. The Ojmnake Amateur Athletic Club completed a very successful programme of track and field events on Wednesday afternoon. Several keen races were witnessed by a good attendance of local residents.
