RIBBON SLASHING INCIDENT
DEI G ROOT’S: DAMAGE CLAIM SETTLED OUT OF COURT (United Bress Association- By Electric Teiejfrapl' Oopyrigbt.) SYDNEY, Nov. 17. The claim for £SOOO damages by Captain de Groot against Mark Gosling (former Chief Secretary in the Lang Government), Walter Childs (Chief Police Commissioner), and William Mackay (Metropolitan Police Superintendent) has been settled out of court. The terms are not likely to be disclosed. The claim arose out of tlic do Groot ribbon-cutting incident at the opening of the harbour bridge in March, de Groot alleging wrongful arrest and false imprisonment.
