YANKEE TOURNEY FINALISTS
OPENING DAY CONTESTS.
At the conclusion of the official opening ceremony at the Turuturu; Tennis Club’s courts in Hawera yes“ter day (reported in yesterday’s late edition of the “Hawera Star”) a' Yankee tournament was played, the winners being Miss Ritter and R. Swan (85 each) and the runners-up Miss. Shannon and E. Corbett (84 and 82 respectively). ~ In the evening a largely attended dance was held at the Foresters’ Hall, the proceeds to lie devoted towards a fund for the erection of a pavilion and other improvements.
