HAWERA UNEMPLOYED RELIEF

DISTRIBUTION 1 OF RATIONS. AID TO 46 FAMILIES. Forty-six parcels of rations in sizes according to the number of children in each family were distributed to Hawera registered unemployed at the borough council chambers in Hawera this morning. The commodities, taken m bulk, included 66 bread coupons, 491bs. butter, 231bs tea, 1961bs sugar, 28215. flour, 1041 s. oatmeal and 55 21bs potatoes. The distribution was completed without a hitch and all the men expressed appreciation of the assistance afforded during their stand-down Vs?ek.

The Hawera Citizens’ Relief Committee acknowledges further donations in response to its appeal as follow: Previous total, £135 11s; cash donations _and grocery orders. Toe H, Dr. W. M. Thomson, A. H. Larkman, H.R.D., and F. Pinson, £3 16s. Total to date, £139 7s.
