MOVE IN ENGLAND BILL PASSES SECOND BEADING PROFITS TO GO TO CHARITY (British Official Wireless.) Received 12.45 p.m. to-day. RUGBY, May 27. The Government’® Sunday Entertainments Bill received its second reading in the House of Commons to-day by 237 votes to 61. The Bill is a compromise measure to legalise Sunday concerts and the Sunday opening of such places as picture galleries and zoos. It permits Sunday cinema® for London and other areas which Shad Sunday cinemas under special conditions before 1930. It provides that other arts may proceed, by special draft order, for permission to open cinemas on Sunday, but the order can only become effective if supported by a majority of the inhabitants in the area concerned. Local authorities are required to see that .profits derived from Sunday opening shall be devoted to charities' and a day’s rest for employees to be guaranteed.
