NATIONAL MUSEUM BUILDING
BOARD TO CALL TENDERS. AVAILABLE FUNDS LIMITED. (By Telegi*ph—Uress Association.) WELLINGTON, May 24. Authority has been given by the board of trustees of the national museum and art gallery to call tenders for the erection of buildings. This decision was made by a meeting of the board to-night. Some time ago competitive designs were invited for the work and. the award was given to plans submitted by Messrs Gummer and Ford, Auckland. It has not been found possible to make available all the funds promised for the project hut the hoard has decided that it should do as much as possible with the funds available. Tenders will be called for the whole work but the hoard reserves the right to proceed with only such portion of the whole as may be covered by the funds available or progressively as circumstances will permit. It is expected that' three-fourths of the intended buildings may be contracted for more or less according to the finance available when the tenders are being considered.
