Several Empire luncheons, promoted by Dominion societies and other patriotic organisations, are being held in London. The outstanding event of the day’s celebrations in London was the unveiling this morning by the Duke of Connaught of the stained glass window in St. Pauls Cathedral in memory of Lord Meath, founder of the Empire Day movement. CANADA’S MESSAGE. An Empire Day message from Mr. R. B. Beilhett, Prime Minister of Canada, read at a Canadian Chamber of Commerce luncheon at London to-day stated: ‘ ‘ln a few months the Imperial Economic Conference at Ottawa will form a part of our history, and I am convinced that it will be a memorable part. Determination is evident throughout the Epipire to utilise this opportunity to place our economic relations on a mutually advantageous and enduring basis, and it is an assurance that before another Empire Day arrives definite action will have been taken which will contribute materially to a revival of trade and industry in every part of the Empire and, I trust, in the re-establishment of confidence and concerted action necessary for the restoration of prosperity to the world in general.”
