OBJECTION IN COMMONS. amendment" REJECTED. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph Conyright.l LONDON, May 24. When the House of Commons was in committee on the Finance Bill last night, Mr D. R. Grenfell (Labour) moved an amendment that no order of the Tariff Advisory Committee should apply to wheat and meat. Mr Grenfell said nearly £200,000,000 was spent yearly on wheat and meat. These vital commodities of the people should be admitted free of duty. The amendment was rejected by 282 votes to 51.
