FINE OF £2O IN CITY QUERIES BEFORE! MAGISTRATE. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 24. Rosina Stuart Trevella, a married woman, was fined £2(]j in default thiee months’ gaol with hard labour by Mi E. D. Mosley, S.M., this morning on a charge of wilfully obstructing a police sergeant in Cathedral Square on May <5. The offence occurred when a crowd was hooting volunteer tram workers. The police said the woman twice refused to move on and would have been arrested then, but the arrest of a woman at such a time might have precipitated trouble. In answer to questions in the court the woman denied being an obstructionist. "When asked whether she. was in Lambton Quay, Wellington, when the trouble occurred there accused said: “Not that I know of. I do not know Wellington very well. I was in Wellington on business. The sub-inspector: Have you not said it was music to hear the glass being broken ? Accused : I have not.
