IDENTIFICATION QUESTIONS REASONS FOR NON-ARREST SUICIDAL IN ANGRY CROWD. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 24. In the Supreme Court the trial of the 14 men accused of participating in the riot was continued to-day. Police evidence, closely 7 following that given in the lower court, was given, counsel for accused endeavouring to show that identification of particular men in the surging crowd outside the town hall was difficult. One witness said it was quite possible to identify the leaders, especially as they came at close quarters. Detective Knight, when asked wiij he had not arrested the accused Silver during the riot, said that owing to the frenzy of the crowd it would have been absolutely suicidal to attempt it.
