1 (From Our Own Correspondent). euchre; and ping pong. On Friday night in St. Patrick’s 1 Hall the weekly ,-series, of Catholic euchre parties was continued. Airs. C. H. Alarcroft was responsible for the organisation and a very enjoyable time was spent. Ping pong was played by non-euchre players. A dainty supper was served by tlie ladies’ committee. The winners of the prizes were: Ladies, Ales dames F. Deis Forges 1, D. Ross 2; men, Air. Scott 1 and Mick AlcGee 2. HOCKEY. Playing in the seven-a-side tournament at Eltham on Thursday last, the Opunake girls’ hockey team acquitted themselves very well, having one win and one draw and one loss. Aliss AY. Bayliss scored the goal in their winning game. On Saturday night this club held a dance in St. Patrick’s hall. There was a good attendance and a very enjoyable evening was spent in old time and modern dances. Supper was served by the girls. Afusic was supplied by Air. J. Hooker, who also carried out the duties of AI.C. PERSONAL. Air. J. AA’oolford, who has been cm- [ cloyed on the staff of the “Opunake, Times” for some time, has now left for Kohuratahi where he will take upj his duties as temporary headmaster of the school.
