GENERAL AND PERSONAL
(From Our Own Correspondent)
Ml Edward S. Baker has been appointed to succeed Miss .Leversedge as head teacher of the Kakaramea'school. There were 21 applicants for the position.
For many years past Mr. J. Fairweather, the well-known horticulturist, of Kakaramea, has watched carefully over a banana palm on his property. The palm has just flowered for the first time, the flower being a large and handsome one, being of a somewhat green colour with touches of purple. ALr. Fair Weather and many interested friends are anxious to see whether the palm will bear fruit. The local factory lias started running every other day from Tuseday last. The cold weather experienced lately has caused the milk to fall off very fast. Mr and Mrs. P. W. Tong and family will be leaving Kakaramea shortly, having, accepted .a position at Okaiawa. Airs. E. Ward is greatly improved after her recent illness. Mrs. Ward is at present on a visit to her son. Mr. A. H. Ward, of Kakaramea.
