(From Our Own Correspondent). GENERAL. There was a large gathering at the Scottish Society’s dancing class on! Friday evening when all kinds of old time and Scotch dances were practised, under the direction of Mr. J. Nairn of Hawera. Mr. Austin supplied aecordeon music and pipers supplied the rest. The euchre party on Saturday night attracted a good number of enthusiasts and Mr. O. Evans won the men’s prize. Mrs. Wood supplied the dance music afterwards and Mr. Wood acted as M.O. Supper was provided. A very successful mission was concluded at the Catholic Church, Auroa, on Sunday evening last. The preacher was the Rev. Father Collins, CXS.S.R. of Wellington. The mission, which began on May 15 lasted for a week, and the exercises which were held twice daily , attracted large crowds both morning and evening. A feature of the week was the eloquent and inspiring preaching olf the missioner. Father Collins leaves for Wellington at an early date, carrying with him the best wishes of the many tr|iends he made during his short stay in this district. PERSONALS. Mr. and Mrs. Middleweek and Master Sean Lawrence Middleweek, have left for Rangiawhia and Doubtless Bay, North Auckland. Miss Tippens has been appointed assistant at Awatuna schooj to replace Miss Death, who has gone to Meremere. Miss O. Flavin has resigned her position as relieving teacher. Mils Lilley is visiting Elcetahuna, where she is" the guest of her sister. Miss Alice Deegan will be one of the debutantes to be presented at the Charity Ball in New Plymouth on Wednesday night.
