MOVE TO TERMINATE SERVICES. OPPOSED BY PUBLIC MEETING. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 24. Following upon Councillor Duncan s motion that the services of the city organist be dispensed with a public meeting was held last night to dec.de what representations should be made to the City Council in the matter. Councillor Duncan who was present said there must he something wrong when onlv about 50 people, attended the Town Hall on Sunday evenings. Bis suggestion with that something more effective in the cause of music would evolve. There Avere a good many organists in the city and if ieci.als ivere grten by these men it would popularise the entertainments. After a lengthy discussion a motif n was carried that the services of the city organist be not dispensed with and a deputation was appointed to place this A r ieiv before the City Council.
